Maybe you haven’t heard, but Russell Westbrook finally signed an extension to team with Durantula for another 5 years. They’re an impressive pair that will be together for a long time, and a lot of people are excited (see links below). It seems Durant didn’t find out about the contract extension from the team, but from Twitter, your new, get everything NBA-related source (uggh—that’s so sad, but I don’t know why—I’m AFRAID of CHANGE). 

More to the point, when are people going to realize they genuinely like each other and it’s not an act? I know blogging superstar Simmons goes on and on with his (copped from Whitlock) Stringer Bell vs. Avon Barksdale line of thinking about the two, but we’re likely to never see the scene where they physically attack each other and eventually Barksdale orders Stringer’s demise. Plus, Durant doesn’t have any access to Brother Mouzone or Omar Little. Enough with the slightly pedantic Wire references because these two lurve each other! 

It’s incredible to see two great, young players signed for the next half-decade on a single team, so lets focus on whether they’ve grown enough to make the final push for their first title, and less on slightly fabricated reports of a gulf between the two over ALPHA dog status. Durant is top dog, like Wade is in Miami (ahaha—it’s true!). Westbrook realizes OKC is his best chance to become the Scottie Pippen for millennial fans—someone who can do lots of things as the second best player on the team. He might be a hall-of-famer if this pans out and he’ll thank his lucky stars he got paired with the humble and creepily long and smooth Kevin Durant. 

Amen OKC, now if we can only make it up to Seattle fans :(
